Building bridges in Year 4

Year 4 spent the morning of June 17th with our chaplain, Frances, looking in more detail at their current theme, Building Bridges. After an opening prayer, they spent time thinking about how in life there will be times when they argue or fall out with people but it is important to ‘build bridges’ – ask for forgiveness and make things right.

They followed this with a session looking at the story of The Unmerciful Servant as well as other Bible stories involving forgiveness. Then they split into groups to recreate a section of the servant story before re-grouping to piece it all together and perform it as a class.

Game time for Year 4 Scratch coders

This term Year 4 have been learning how to use the Scratch coding programme to create a series of algorithms to instruct a sprite to complete a series of movements. This began with simple instructions for movement and sound, before they pieced them all together to create more complicated codes for their own game and, finally, a story using ‘Control’, ‘Motion’ and ‘Variables’ instructions.

It was very quiet in there, so they were obviously focusing hard!

Time to tally up!

Year 4 headed out on to the playground to conduct a survey for a data handling project in maths this week. After devising a subject matter, they collated their results in a tally chart before representing them visually in a bar chart.

The children then analysed their data before sharing their results with the class.

Game, set and match for Y4!

Year 4 had a fabulous time at Nottingham Tennis Centre on June 5 as they took to the court in a mini-tennis tournament.

Four pupils from the class took part in the eight-team contest and showed their best racket skills at the event.
